Statistics Unit of the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) is at the National Blood Center – Colombo 05. Under the direct supervision of the Director/ NBTS, the statistics on work performance of the blood banks located island-wide are collected through the NBTS Monthly Statistics Reporting System on monthly basis, by the medical officers of the Statistics Unit. The data is analysed in order to be used for resource management of the National Blood Transfusion Service, as follows.
- Human resources – donors and staff
- Physical resources – blood components, TTI testing, reagents and other consumables etc.
By using statistics for effective and efficient management of resources, the productivity of the National Blood Transfusion Service has increased in great deal, since the recent years.
At the end of each calendar year, the collected and analysed data is compiled to a final document as The Annual Statistics Report, by the Statistics Unit.
