Commencement of SL–NEQAS Program 2026

The National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) of Sri Lanka is pleased to announce the launch of the Sri Lanka National External Quality Assessment Scheme (SL–NEQAS) for the year 2026. This program ensures the accuracy and reliability in blood grouping serology testing.

Program Overview

  • Conducted By: Quality Control Laboratory, National Blood Center (NBC).
  • Program Name: SL–NEQAS Blood Group Serology (BGS).
  • Frequency: Two (02) testing cycles per year.

Scope of the Testing

  • ABO and Rh D blood grouping
  • Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT)
  • Antibody screening
  • Red cell Cross-match compatibility testing

How to Register

Interested laboratories and hospitals must forward an official request letter addressed to the Director of NBTS. Your application must include the following details:

  • Name of the Laboratory/Hospital.
  • Specific SL–NEQAS test components the laboratory intends to participate in.
  • Contact person’s name and dedicated email address for official communications.
  • Official approval from the Head of the Institution.

Important Participation Notes

  • Fees: Participation requires a standard registration fee, alongside individual cycle fees as specified by the NBTS.
  • Communication: To ensure efficiency, all cycle-related instructions and correspondence will be conducted strictly via email.
